Molecular Mechanisms of Immunotherapies for Solid Tumours In-person Event
This course is ideal for nurses who are new to caring for cancer patients.
Date: 28 November 2022
Time: 09:00 until
16:30
Length: 1 day
Venue: The National Army Museum, Royal Hospital Rd , Chelsea, London
Elaine describes the mechanisms of action of the two main types of treatment: monoclonal antibodies that target cell surface proteins, and small molecules that block kinases. Many if these treatments target over-active, growth factor-controlled signalling pathways.
Dr Elaine Vickers will also focus much of her attention on the check point inhibitor group of immunotherapies, which include PD-1, PD-L1 and CTLA-4 targeted antibody therapies. She describes how checkpoint inhibitors boost cancer-fighting T cells.
